The Way of the Sword

Haidong Gumdo is the Korean martial art of sword fighting. For me, Gumdo is more than an outlet for exercise and fitness. It is a discipline, an essential part of my life and an art form. I love its beauty, elegance and power; regardless of your age or fitness level, Gumdo is suitable for everyone.

My instructor, Master Charles Delfs, is not only an accomplished “Samurang” but also a master in Tae Kwon Do and the president and owner of Delfs’ Martial Arts and Fitness Centre in Bradford. To his great credit, he has patiently worked with me for over four years, honing and refining my skills to a black belt level. While I will never have thehaidong gumdo, martial arts reputation of being a fierce or formidable fighter, I strive to bring grace, flexibility and strength to my training….good attributes for Haidong Gumdo and for life.
